Hello!
I'm the nutrition girl from the Megabus! Sorry this is so belated, but I loved reading how you enjoyed NYC during the same weekend that I did. Best to you and your future journeys; I hope you put your good intentions into the world that weekend ;) I will certainly keep you and India in my mind.

What a shame I missed TBEX! Maybe next year!!! It's great that you were able to go. Love that pic of Gandhi. I walked by that statue so many times when I lived in NYC.

Thanks so much for comments. It really took some creativity on my part to write a TBEX roundup and stay on theme! And I loved seeing that statue. India and what it represents to me is always with me - and I love getting these reminders.

Good to meet you at TBEX, it was a great weekend. That is so cool that you found the Mahatma in NYC. His statue is such a familiar site in India, I will look out for him next time I'm in Union Square.

Your are right when you say that India is a Kaleidoscopic circus of senses. In fact chaos is just a veil for something which is silent deep inside the heart of India. Like a mirage in a desert. And that food really looks amazing.

Reading your experience of TBEX I almost felt as if I was there listening to all those travel stories. Listening to Evelyn must have been so moving, thanks for sharing Mariellen.

Incidentally I was at a travelers meet this last weekend too. A friend of mine Santosh runs a travel company GetOffURAss and now he wants to build a traveler community. This was the first ever meet and yet they had an amazing turn-out. We travelers just need an excuse to travel :) (http://www.getofftraveller.com/)

Cheers

Hello there, I'm glad I found your blog. I have an affinity to Indian culture, though I've never been to India but really want to go. I'm a newbie travel blogger, so I've not yet seen Evelyn's website, but I'm definitely headed that way.

Great post, Mariellen. I'm so sorry I missed TBEX in NY. I've now joined
http://www.travelblogexchange.com and hope to be at TBEX2011 in Vancouver - one of my favourite cities!

I think it's interesting how the statue of Gandhi happened upon you in NYC. I think it we look for it, we can always find comfort and familiarity in everyplace we go.

And yes, Evelyn Hannon is one of my mentors, too. I certainly hope I have that much energy, inspiration and flair when I'm 70!
